Gem & industrial
Zircon
Heavy-mineral zircon for gem cutting, ceramic opacifier and refractory use.
Overview
Zircon is recovered as a heavy mineral alongside our tin and columbite operations, where dense-media separation already concentrates it. Gem-quality crystals are sorted out by hand; the remainder is milled for industrial buyers.
Ceramic and refractory buyers price on ZrO₂ content and on the tightness of the particle-size distribution, both of which we certify per lot.
Applications
- Faceted gemstones
- Ceramic glaze opacifier
- Foundry sand and refractory linings
- Zirconium metal and chemical feedstock
