Precious stone
Emerald
Beryl of gem quality from Nigeria's northern pegmatites, sorted and graded by parcel.
Overview
Emerald is beryl coloured by chromium and vanadium, and the Nigerian occurrences we work produce stones with the cool, slightly bluish green that cutters prize. Rough is recovered by careful hand mining, since mechanised extraction destroys more value than it saves.
Every parcel is sorted into clarity and colour bands before it is offered, and photographed under standardised lighting so a buyer abroad is pricing what they will actually receive.
