Overview
Lead is mined as galena from the vein systems of the Abakaliki–Benue sulphide corridor, usually in association with zinc. Ore is crushed, milled and floated to a concentrate on site.
Handling lead responsibly is a condition of our licence to operate: site workers are on scheduled blood-lead monitoring, and concentrate is moved in sealed, lined containers from plant to port.
